A Dangerous Son focuses on three families in crisis, each struggling with a child's severe mental illness while desperately seeking treatment in the face of limited resources and support; exposing cracks in a system that fails too many families, with potentially devastating consequences for the child and for others. A Dangerous Son highlights the cycle of counselor visits, medications, hospitalizations and encounters with law enforcement common to many children and families grappling with psychiatric disorders.Following the film, engage with a panel of local mental health system administrators and youth in a talk back session.

This workshop covers the basics concerning the evolution of the mobile and broadband world as it relates to student communication, including: inappropriate on-line behavior, bullying, and its impact on mental health. We'll cover the causes, the technology, and how students can help control these trends.

Creative Revolution: Storytelling with Purpose (Youth Workshop) | Mt. Washington

Award-winning author and filmmaker, E.E. Charlton-Trujillo, will share insights into harnessing your storytelling abilities. Whether you want to write your first novel, short story, or poem, she will offer techniques to better enable you to realize your story and see the power on the page.

MIND/GAME: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw tells the compelling story of basketball phenom Holdsclaw, from her rise to WNBA stardom where she was touted as the “female Michael Jordan” to her struggle with mental illness and the strength she called on to speak out about it. Winner, Voice Award, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA). Following the film,  participants will engage with a panel of local coaches, mental health professionals, players and youth in a talk back session.

Why Mindfulness Matters | Mt. Healthy

Jaimi Cabrera - Beech Acres Parenting Center

Millions of people, teens and adults alike, practice mindfulness. Mindfulness guru, John Kabat-Zinn says, "Mindfulness is about love and loving life." This interactive session will share the "ins-and-outs" of mindfulness--what it is, why it's good for you, and how you can practice it daily. Participants will gain a better understanding of mindfulness, learn about the positive benefits of mindfulness, and learn practical ways to begin using mindfulness.
